Hi,

I started a simple DAIA-to-OPDS conversion script, located at

Two issues I am not sure of:

1. What does an entry's <updated> element refer to? The date of the original book? The date it was digitized? The date of the information in the entry (especially acquisition links can change over time)? I use the current time of the DAIA response, because this is the actual date of the availability information. This way, however, all entry elements have the same <updated> timestamp.

2. (How) should I refer to books that are only available in the library? I could add a link to the library homepage, or should I only include digital publications which are immediately available online?

Thanks
Jakob

Hello,

As specified in the spec (http://opds-spec.org/specs/opds-catalog-1-1-20110627/#Relationship_Between_Atom_and_Dublin_Core_Metadata) the atom:updated element is meant to indicate when the entry itself was updated, not the document associated to the entry.

2. (How) should I refer to books that are only available in the library? I could add a link to the library homepage, or should I only include digital publications which are immediately available online?

That's a typical use case for what we call indirect acquisition. Take a look at our examples at: http://opds-spec.org/specs/opds-catalog-1-1-20110627/#Acquisition_Examples

The link itself must point to the website, while an opds:indirectAcquisition example indicates the media type of the ressource.
