NYPL is kindly hosting an OPDS meeting next week in the morning of May 29th.
This meeting will focus on the on-going work on OPDS itself and its ecosystem:
- OPDS 1.2, the next revision for OPDS that will bring new features to the core spec
- Open Distribution to Libraries (ODL), a new specification based on OPDS and Readium LCP that will enable any library to interact with content providers to harvest metadata, loan ebooks and check the status of their acquisitions
- Authentication for OPDS, a new discovery document for OPDS that will enable authentication between clients and catalogs using OAuth 2.0
- OPDS for Lending, a new specification that will focus on metadata, interactions and best practices for OPDS catalogs in the library space
The first public drafts for ODL and Authentication for OPDS will be published on that same day, while the goal will be to adopt use cases and a roadmap for the other specifications.
Additional information about the exact time and location will be posted this week.
Best,
Hadrien Gardeur
