Fail to install OPenPTV on Windows

Hi, my name is Daniel. I made some errors during installation (as shown in the picture). Does anyone know why?  thanks

Hi Daniel,

It's impossible to guess what the error is from this snapshot. Please provide all the information:

- computer platform

- Windows version

- compiler version

- Python version and how it's installed

- installation commands

My computer is windows 10, Visual Studio Code, python 3.8 from (https://www.python.org/downloads/windows/)
When I execute the .py file in the test folder in the compiler, the following picture is displayed.

This is not helpful either.

1. do you follow the installation instructions?  yes/no ? please print the output of the installation process in your command line. it's not clear whether you installed pyptv

correctly in your cv2 conda environment. 

it's not even clear if you activated your conda environment and run your code from it.

We cannot support your installation without clear description of the problem. Windows 10 + Anaconda + Python 3.8 should work without any problem, so it seems that

some step in the installation instructions is not clear.

 yes, I follow the installation instructions ( As shown below).
Then I  use VS code to execute the .py file in the test folder, and the problem is shown in Figure 2.

1. open your command prompt

2. type:

conda activate [name-of-environment]

pyptv [name of the working folder]

That's the way to use it. You're welcome to see our Youtube tutorials (the link is on the documentation website)

If you want to use VS Code - make sure your choose the Python from the proper conda environment. Apparently this is the problem right now. But this is not the OpenPTV problem

According to the above two steps, I successfully opened the program, which will be used in particle tracking in the future.

I am Zitao, from Osaka University.

I am also trying to run OpenPTV on windows system.

I used anaconda to install numpy as pyptv as instructed in official website, which is 

python -m pip install --upgrade pip 

pip install numpy 

pip install pyptv --index-url https://pypi.fury.io/pyptv --extra-index-url https://pypi.org/simple

I also download the test case.

But I have totally no idea how to open the GUI, and how to open the program.

I am also using Visual Studio Code.

I attached the screenshot here.

Since there are very limited resources and the official Youtube videos aimed for Linux and image is vague to see clearly,

It will be very helpful if you could kindly give me some instructions about how should I open the program or

where can I find other tutorials.

Hi Zitao,

All you need to do is:

1. open your command prompt

2. activate your conda environment where pyptv was installed

3. run:

pyptv test_cavity

or pyptv [full_path_to_working_folder]

e.g.

pyptv c:\china\PIV_test\test_cavity

I simply wrote down how I installed OpenPTV on my windows system.

I attached the memo here, and hopefully it can help someone who tries to install it on Windows.

Please correct me if there is anything wrong or it can be done in an easier way.

Thanks. This is great. Note that when you use conda you can install Python version different from the one that you have "natively" on your computer.
