Hi all,
I am quite new to PTV and Linux as well. For my research in the field of the wave breaking phenomena, I was planning to use OpenPTV to map the free surface velocity in a spilling breaker. The issues I experiment is that any installation procedure I found seems not work for me. I am trying to set up everything in Linux Ubuntu 21.10 but I always get a problem related to SWIG bad installation (issue wit 4.0 ver). At the end pyptv is never installed. What are the ultimate commands I have to use to make the thing working?
Thanks.

This is most likely due to your Python version. Please use Python 3.6, 3.7 or 3.8 on Linux. We are still working on getting the higher Python versions working (due to some incompatibility with Enable package from Enthought)

I created another set of installation instructions for the Linux users (if you run Linux, you don't need the docker part)

It also helps to run OpenPTV + PyPTV on a cloud machine through VNC. Especially useful if your large data set is already in the cloud, e.g. on a Google bucket or AWS storage. Then very fast access across the same computing engine platform (Google Cloud or AWS or other) will help to get your results much quicker. The GUI part of the calibration, etc. works well over VNC

The new set of instructions were very useful to update our docker image

it takes now about 5 min to get fully installed image of OpenPTV + PyPTV GUI running inside a Linux machine and accessible through NoVNC (just a browser)
