In December 2007, Al Zubaidi designed a myoelectric hand as part of
his senior Bio-Medical Engineering project. The control was fully
developed in the lab of the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), Abu
Dhabi Men's College by Al Zubaidi, under the supervision of Dr Michael
Jacobson and David Kelly. The project which was sponsored by the
Health Authority-Abu Dhabi (HAAD). was selected for the Institute of
the Electrical and Electronic Engineering competition.
Al Zubaidi claims on a production scale he could make this product
available for $ 135.oo, and if that is true it could benefit many
amputees who can't afford the Ottobock or other expensive versions.
