Development grants?

I was wondering if anyone has any idea where I could start looking for
grants for the development of a new prosthesis. I have a fairly
thorough sketch which is very exciting, but will require several
months of R&D. I'm capable of doing 90% of the work myself (cad &
fabrication), but it will certainly mean upwards of several hundred
dollars in materials.

I think you should go to your near by college of engineering and talk
with a biomedical engineering professor or a mechanical engineering
professor there. You can have a joint project with them. Just work out
a deal with them. They will help you to find the grand and you two can
split the grant.
