@ Jason

Would it be theoretically possible to stream YuV via WiFI into openPnP, talking to a feeder with this processor and camera  : https://www.hackster.io/punkgeek/a-9-fully-open-source-streaming-webcam-with-no-soldering-c4b7c6

The bandwith is 150MB/s

I will try to draw up a sketch for a wireless feeder with either optical or cam feedback.

The optical sensor approach will count holes in the tape, to register tape distance moved. The cam could in theory do visual homing of parts.

Hi Morpheus,

I'm not sure if you are asking if you can interface the camera to a feeder, or if you mean to use the camera as a camera in OpenPnP. The answer to the first is that you'd need to implement a custom feeder class, but that is pretty easy. The answer to the second is basically yes. It will be easier if you can get the camera to talk ONVIF, but it may work as is using the WebcamsCamera driver.

Ok, i will try it out. Mostly as a optional feature, since the camera and lenses are a bit pricey. There is a Arduino sample code for face recognition for the ESP32. Maybe the chip can learn part recognition, but that’s out of my league.
