Hi all,

When do we want to do the next release, version 2.6?

We had a 6 week beta release feature freeze prior to releasing 2.4,
and that felt like a long time. I suggest 4 weeks beta test will be
sufficient.

The interval between releasing 2.2 and 2.4 was 6 months. If we follow
the same pattern again, that puts the beta release at the end of
December, and the final release at the end of January.

If we want to avoid a clash with the end-of-year disruption, maybe we
make this a 7 month cycle with a beta release at the end of January
and final release of 2.6 at the end of February?

Thoughts please?

Hi Toby!
I think it's a good idea to have a new release cycle and I've no
preference for a beta release end of the year or in January. Question is
how do we catch more issues if there are any...

Hi all,

The next beta release is scheduled for next weekend, 1st February.

There are two outstanding pull requests from Jorropo that are
targeting this release. It would be good to get those merged this
week, but it would be better to have a small delay to the beta release
if it means we can get those included.

Final 2.6 release is still on schedule for 1st March.

Hi all,

Revision f1aca58c5836 is the beta release. There have been no
significant changes to the test branch in the last few weeks, so if
you have updated since 10 January then you are already running the
beta release. If you are using an older version of the test branch
then please update asap to help with testing before the stable release
in 4 weeks time. Developers, please refrain from merging new features
during this beta test window.

Changes since the last stable release are listed here:
https://github.com/openpnp/openpnp/blob/f1aca58c5836/CHANGES.md

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this release.

Toby
