Hello all,

Is there a way to make the nozzle return to position z=0 every time it wants to move in the x or y direction?

The nozzle is very narrowly missing parts of the machine while the head is moving because it doesn't bother to raise the nozzle.

Best,
Tyler

Hi Tyler,

no there is no such option. The problem only exists while manually jogging. All the programmed moves are going via Safe Z.

Manual jogging is really only needed during the setup of the machine. So it might seem extremely important to you right now, but as soon as you got things sorted a bit, you will hardly ever need to jog the machine manually again. You will increasingly be using the Position buttons , which all automatically go to Safe Z first.

Conversely, during setup you definitely need the capability to jog with the nozzle lowered. Such as when precisely capturing a location with the nozzle tip, or when defining the way-point of an insertion move for a nozzle tip changer or way-points for the push-pull/drag/lever feeder. In these use cases it could be very bad if it went to Safe Z first.

Just one example in action:

You just have to be careful. It rapidly becomes second nature, and that's a good thing.
