I am attempting to get my first nozzle tip changer location to work.
At first, I was getting “X (or Y) outside of raster” errors until I figured out that my field of view of the top camera (ELP**) was only about 6 x 3.4. After fixing the template height/width I was able to capture images.
Now, when I click “Test” I receive the software exception shown with no information on how I might fix it. I fully expect that the Tolerance and Precision values have something to do with it.
Any suggestions?

Toby,
Thank you very much! Template height/width was the issue!
I drastically reduced the height/width and “test” button was successful. I then increased height/width until failure. Log attached.
Now on to address remaining tasks before I start my first big run with my Quad IVc running OpenPnP!
Thanks again!

Subject: Re: [OpenPnP] Re: Exception when configuring nozzle tip change
Hi Chuck,
Thank you for the problem report. You are asking in the right place.
I am pretty sure that this error message is caused by having your template width larger than your camera width, or template height larger than the camera height. Please can you send an error log file ~/.openpnp2/log/OpenPnP.log
to confirm and I will fix this with a nicer error message in the next release.

Since this is a question about a software "Exception" (an assert failed) is this the appropriate place to ask this question or is there another message channel that is better suited for these kinds of questions?
I tried changing the template dimensions, tolerance, and precision but the error remained the same. Will this maybe not work with this small a field of view? It also failed when it tried to use the data to load a nozzle.
BTW: this is with version 2.6_2026-03-01_12-37-59.5bd404c

I forgot to add my ELP** footnote: My top ELP camera is using the optics that were already on my Quad IVc that I converted to OpenPnP. The result is high magnification but a small field-of-view so that the entire nozzle slot does not appear. Is this (narrow field of view) going to be an issue for me going forward? Should make an adapter to mount the ELP with the lens it came with?
