Hello all,
I have been using OpenPnp for some time, but am experiencing issues with vision for large components as my camera lacks wide angle. I'd like to add another bottom camera to my setup, but is it possible to make OpenPnp use a specific camera depending on package size or maybe by selecting a specific camera for a specific package?
I haven't seen this option anywhere, but am I missing something, or can this feature be implemented?
I already am trying out the latest Test Build with camera roaming, but I cannot make this work to my satisfaction yet.

Hi Kim,

> I already am trying out the latest Test Build with camera roaming, but I cannot make this work to my satisfaction yet.

Can you describe why? I'm very interested in making this practical.

Perhaps better to answer in the "Vision Compositing - Multi-Shot Bottom Vision" thread, though:

No it is not (yet) possible. It was discussed here:

https://groups.google.com/g/openpnp/c/0VRTK6-hUBQ/m/MdRJOgE9AwAJ

Note, there are two goals discussed:

  1. having multiple different cameras for different (size) parts.
  2. having multiple equal camera for faster vision with multiple nozzles (quasi-ganged-up vision).

A solution would have to be good for both goals.

Hi,
There might be solution with your existing camera but you did not mention which camera are you using? Is it ELP camera ? If so you might have it to close to your Z=0, with moving camera away you get wider angle of view (depending on lens ! ? Are there M12 lens mounted to your camera?) If M12 lens you can buy wider angle of lens and solve it this way..... What is written on your lenses ?

Hi Mike,
sorry for the missing info.
I'm using an ELP with a global shutter 720P@60FPS. The lense is an 2.8-12MM VARIFOCAL ZOOM LENS. This lense is not a M12 type though. I do have a fish-eye lense I could try out.
I changed the camera chip with this one which has a global shutter 60FPS: ELP Global Shutter USB Camera High Frame Rate 720P 60fps
I haven't had time to do much testing with this setup yet, but as mentioned, I tried the testing version with camera roaming.
I will do some more testing and get back as I am having trouble aligning an ESP32 module. I will report this issue in the thread concerning this function.
I think the best and easiest solution for now would be to use a single camera, and go for the roaming function. Possibly try to move the camera further down to get a wider angle.

Hi Mark,
I'm having issues with aliging an ESP32 module. I think I need to create the pins on the part, but this part is asymetrical, and there is not option for generating such a part (as far as I can see?)
any help would be appreciated here.
I will do some more testing and report my issue in the thread you linked.

Kim,
What I did is --- I replaced focus on this C270 PCB with M12 lens mount frame and with new M12 lens and I get magic out of the box.

I took M12 lens from other camera - there is no text on lens - sorry.
For down-looking camera I use ELP 720 PCB on top of Coaxial casing
