I am not a mechanical CAD guy but I have been working on a feed design using an SG90 servo, of course servo would need modification for continuous rotation.

My goal is to make an automatic feeder with as few moving parts as reasonable, as thin and as cheap as possible.

The basic design is that the servo will turn the feed wheel as shown below. The feed will have a encoder similar to Misfit Tech's Smart Steppers (or use optical).  Then there is option of pulley off the feed wheel to use a rubber band belt to drive take up reel or maybe use another servo.

The deign would be around ~12mm thick for a 8mm feed reel.

From rough calculations it should provide ~10 parts per second.

If there is someone out there who is better at mechanical CAD than me I would be happy to work together. I can do the electronics and get mechanical prototypes, however the CAD is slow learning for me...

Thanks

What CAD are you using?

Fusion 360...

I have also tried FreeCAD, but switched to Fusion 360. However the gears in the design were done with an OpenSCAD script.
