Hi, I am using two of the recommended ELP USB100W03M 1MP 720p cameras. I have these connected to an Anker USB 3.0 hub, and I still cannot view both streams at once.
I have tried using the MJPG compression using 160x120 resolution and 30fps (this is the lowest quality I believe). It does work when plugged into separate ports on my computer, however, I would prefer not to have to do this if at all possible.
If you have any suggestions other than just plugging them in separately I would really appreciate it! From all of my reading of the docs I believe I should be able to connect these cameras to the same hub.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Josh

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your response.

I have looked through the docs and FAQ quite extensively and think I understand the issue. Clearly, one camera is taking up too much bandwidth and the second camera will not work.

I understand I can just plug it into another port and this will solve it.

As the FAQ stated, I am using the openpnpcapture camera, not the opencv one and so I was wondering if there is anything I can do because apparently the 720p camera should be able to connect to a hub ok as per your docs: https://github.com/openpnp/openpnp/wiki/OpenPnpCaptureCamera

"If you want to be sure of reliable operation of two cameras on a single USB host it is recommended that you use the ELP Model USB100W03M, 720p USB Cameras"

I am using these exact cameras and not having reliable operation, even when choosing the lowest resolution MJPG format video. If this is still a limitation using the openpnpcapture camera, that's fine I will make it work with the multiple cords but if there's something I'm doing or could try to fix this I'd love to know.

Thanks again,

Josh

OK so you checked all that.

How sure are you you got the genuine camera and/or the right model?

What are the video modes you get?

What is your OS?

Hi Mark,

Sorry I somehow seem to have missed your reply.

I bought the cameras from ELPs Aliexpress store. Link: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32974277512.html?spm=a2g0o.order_detail.order_detail_item.3.5bdff19cC0g9MW. I bought the 6mm lens.

I get MJPG and YUY2. I have attached screenshots of the resolutions I get for each one.

I am on Windows 10, laptop is a 4th gen Lenovo X1 Yoga.

Thanks for your help!

This all looks normal as far as I can tell.

I guess you tested this on multiple single ports? Just in case the one you tried was already loaded by another device's bandwidth, Nowadays many things run over these buses, including internal stuff. Have you looked at the Windows Device Manager and displayed "by connection"?

Otherwise, I'm out of ideas, frankly.

Yes I've tried pretty much every possible combination of ports and hubs I have available, I've used usb tree viewer to look at how it's all connected.

Thanks for your help, I'll just have to use different ports I guess.
