Hi Guys,

Ok, so was fiddling about with my machine today, attempting to mount some 0402 caps. Damn, this laying out cut strips is fiddly! One bump and a bunch of fleas go flying!
Much to my surprise, it was able to pick and place the 0402 caps quite reliably. 95% of what I will be placing will be 0603, so that gives me a bunch of confidence. Also the button for moving the camera to the next placement location is a ripper!
So I'm seriously considering fitting out my machine with a bunch of Yamah CL feeders.
Does anybody know of a good supplier for the yamaha feeder mounting plate and solenoids? Second hand from a wrecked machine would be fine.

Cheers

Thanks! I have been looking on there. The mounting block is a mean looking bit of gear!
I have a bunch of stuff coming from China in a few days, I might see if they can source a few feeders for me so I can have a play with them. I want to see if I can make a way to mount them that doesn't involve a $1300 mounting block. At the end of the day, I am not going to be removing feeders often, and by the time I am I won't feel the $1300 for a feeder mounting block!
For the moment, as long as I can auto feed my bypass caps, 0402's, that dreaded .3mm bga and a few other common parts, I will be happy..

Trampas, I like the look of your feeder board! Hope it works well.

Cheers

Off topic, do you have no space under the strip feeder, using as example MDF as base for the strip and not printed strip holder with a lot of space under it.
Do you have frayed loose feeder?

I have 16mm from the pick height down to the bed of my machine(mdf board).

I did try the loose parts feeder a few months back, but it was not working for me.

If you contact seller for the CL base they offered to ship without the heavy metal base which was cheaper.  Also you can negotiate with them to get feeders at the same time.

I looked at machining a base, but by the time I got the material and solenoid, hoses, etc it was cheaper to buy from China.  I personally got a 16 port base as I still hope to finish up a 3D printed feeder design that would take up less room.

In case you would give loose feeder a second try, basically for cost
reasons and because you don't need it often, post example images in
order to tell you what changes is needed in order
the feeder works for you.

contact that seller directly, he's English is kind of poor so you will need patience but the prices are far lower than published, especially for the mounting block.
I order mine with the support base of the block stripped, so I ended saving a lot in shipping and it's easy to mount the iron block on aluminum extrusions (don't know how do you call then, here they are referred as Bosch rexroth extrusions)

I contacted the seller and priced the reels and plate together with shipping.  To removed the base plate it would have saved me $50 in shipping, however I figured that it would cost me $50 in time and material to make a new base plate so I paid the extra in shipping.

The seller also included the pigtails for the solenoids which was awesome.
