I'm setting my machine up from scratch to clean things up, and I've run across a Null Pointer error.  I uninstalled OpenPnP , then reinstalled 2022-11-30 nightly build.

I was stepping through the Issues & Solutions after configuring items from my old configuration (Limits, Nozzle configs, actuators, cameras, etc) manually.   It poped up the Error window(s) when I tried to go to the next group of steps. Now when I click on "Find Issues and Solutions" an error window pops up, and a larger Error window comes up when I click "Include Solved".  The Log file shows:

2022-12-18 19:11:14.600 Main INFO: Bienvenue, Bienvenido, Willkommen, Hello, Namaskar, Welkom, Bonjour to OpenPnP version 2022-11-30_17-49-56.33a3b64.

I've attached a screen shot of the errors windows. This first happened when running 2022-11-30 test build.  I tried to load the latest nightly but the installer errors out trying to write the Demo Board V2.TXT file.  These may be unrelated. I've included a screen shot of that.  I can't seem to work around this installer issue.  I'm running the installer with Administrative privileges.  I tried deleting that file, and I've checked permissions on the target file and directory.

Any help you can provide is appreciated!

Which branch are you installing? I am running the Test branch on Windows and never had any installation issues. Your Documents folder should be restricted in any way. Can you upload the entire log file? Perhaps there is a hardware problem causing the file to not be written?

Hi Mark P.,

thanks for reporting this.

Apparently you seemed to have set the primary fiducial location X Y manually at one time, but not the fiducial diameter. If you let Issues & Solutions do that, they will always be set together. Of course, this is still a bug, and I'll fix it.

But as a workaround, please set the fiducial diameter (on the Head) manually to something and then back to zero, so it is surely written when you press Apply. You should then be able to use Issues & Solutions to set these up properly.

About the installer Fail: I guess that file would be locked in a way, i.e. open in an editor or something (not sure if OpenPnP itself locks open files). Be sure to quit all such programs.

Increasingly, I've also had locking through all the crap that runs in the background, like search indexing, or the many malware scanning programs etc.

If you don't find the culprit, the easiest way under Windows is to log out and back in.

Thank you both for your help.  I had set the primary fiducial manually and had not set the diameter.  Entering the diameter fixed the Error problem.  As for the installer hanging up, I stopped the backups running in the background, but what really seemed to fix it was stopping the antivirus.  I have no idea why that would fix it, but it did!

Again, thank you both for your help.  Now on to the rest of the setup.

Hi,

This is now fixed in the testing version. Allow some minutes to deploy.
