After sorting out my axis mapping, I now have rotation fixed, but only with the standard smoothieboard firmware.

I just switched back to the openPNP fork (https://github.com/openpnp/Smoothieware/tree/edge/FirmwareBin) and it seems there is a problem, at least there is for me. With this version of the firmware on my smoothieboard, my nozzles do not turn at all. As far as I was aware the only difference between this firmware and the standard version (what I am now using) is that the openpnp set has a modified Z homing routine that works for dual head designs like "Peter's head" in the scenario that the machine is homed when the endstop is closed (or is it open?).

Anyway, looks like something in there is broke but I can live without it so long as I make sure my head has the nozzles level when I switch it on and home.

Maybe worth someone taking a look, or at least putting a health warning next to it. I was lucky in that it didn't take me long to determine that the firmware was causing the problem, but others might get caught out by this and spend lots of time trying to get those nozzles turning with firmware that doesn't allow it.

Is anyone else using this firmware?

Hi

I'm currently installing my limit switches so I have downloaded the Firmware to my smoothie, due to my head design. I haven't tried yet to rotate the nozzles. Is it the circular arrows in the Jog control that should rotate the nozzles?

Yes, these control the C axis, which is rotation.

My C-axis is turning and the homing works to the center position.

Do you use the same config file with both firmware versions?

Mikael,

Yes, same config file for both, and I can reproduce the problem. For me, the openPNP fork of smoothie firmware breaks the rotation, so I am using standard smoothie firmware.

I don't know why it doesn't work for you, but I am using the openpnp fork of the firmware and it works fine for me...
