Many designs has been proposed, but which one is working without problems?

My first design did not work with the openCV.

I would like one that is semi-auto, where the head can do the feeding operation without electrical components in the feeder , and one design that I can place stips in, without taping strips to a board.
The parts for the feeder should be 3d printed or CNC milled.

Can you supply some images from a strip , images from the same stripe
at different positions and of different strips, if you have
transparent and black too.

hello Mikael,

Than you might be looking for something like this - see pictures enclosed -
PnP head (or lever near head) pushes the lever on feeder and opening for feeding opens on feeder for pick up

Wow! I looked for something like that. Lot's of questions, though, sorry :)

  1. What is the brand?
  2. Where to buy?
  3. Does it really work (cover tape etc.)?
  4. How many parts skipped at the beginning?
  5. Do you actually use it with OpenPNP?
Thanks,
_Mark

Construction looks similiar to old Yamaha/Phhilips (csm60 machine) feeders that I use. To use with openpnp you need modify automatic feeder code to fire actuator after when the head is stopped at feeder position instead of today firing it on the way when head is moving from somewhere to feeder.

I've put the code instructed by Cri to the Jason's wish list but it was not code making actual feeder code universal but changing it into new working form. So was not merged by him (despite he told that do this in some free time... Apparently there was not free time :-).) To be honest, I've never pressed on him to much with this as anyway need recompile openPNP with other files when new updates. No matter.

With this feeders type: one click is 4mm, two clicks - 8mm etc.

I think that Z motors used in Open PnP forum here do not have sufficient Torque to trigger the spring on this feeder ...
I’m planing different aproach for feeding with no software or code needed...

Probably you are right. There is really relatively strong torque required for these feeders.
I have pneumatic heads height controlling so have no problem with it, there is really quite high torque.

It works without problems if you add a shutter. Otherwise the head is responsable to limit the release speed. Both system works.

I like these feeders very much. Do you any more info on the construction of these?

Could it be done with a lever? The Liteplacer has a large Z range of 40mm+ (more if you go below table). It would not be fast, but you could probably multiply torque quite a bit. Also the lead screw Z drive is not that weak.

Are these the right ones?

And is the black knob to be pressed? How far down?

Thanks,
_Mark

Hi Mark,

There is few different type of the feeders for these Philipses and the one you show is just one of them.
You can buy them often very cheap. I have paid €3000 for 200 feeders together with machine :-).

Yes black knob is needed to be pressed, moreless 10-12mm.

In original solution this is pressed with pneumatic "presser" and it takes 0.5sec including lowering, vacuum building and rising the part. So the only feeder operation takes maybe some 100ms.
No idea how to measure the torque but it is really strong (there is few springs in this feeder). Lead screw for sure will do this but slow.

Maruis,
Try this web - you will find some photos and translate it with google to your language

There are some Rusian speaking English guys in this forum they might help you out to find more...

Thanks a lot for the link. It helped a lot. I think I have the design now, It is very simple and looks like very effective. I will draw it up over the next couple of days and try it out once I sourced the spring material.

I did the design and sent away for laser cutting. I will be using little springs in place of the rubber bands.
