The conversations about the history of Juki versus Samsung nozzle adaptors have me thinking about using the CP40 Samsung nozzle adaptor on a NEMA 8 motor.
My friend and I have been discussing this and we came up with a basic coupling design. We want to manufacture a couple and test them, but before we do that we'd like feedback from the community.
The idea is based on the pneumatic coupling that came with the pre-assembled head unit I bought. The coupling has a slip fit for the NEMA 8 motor and an M5 on the other side; which is exactly what the CP40 nozzle adaptor needs. There is an o-ring that sits between the faces of the motor and the pneumatic connector to seal create a seal.
We would lengthen the coupling as much as possible and tighten tolerances to get more accuracy. The drawings are below.
We'd really appreciate any feedback/advice on having these manufactured. I think our biggest concern is the tolerances on the nozzle slip/press fit on the motor side.
General comments would also be welcome. Would there be interest in these couplings? Does this seem like a reasonable approach? Et cetera.
Thanks,
Lance
