Hi folks,

I'm trying out Discord for real time chat for OpenPnP. You can join here: https://discord.gg/mFb94r

Discord is a chat system similar to Slack and IRC, except unlike Slack it's easy to open to the public, and unlike IRC it's not 40 years out of date. OpenPnP has long had a public IRC channel, but IRC has a lot of drawbacks and it's not used very much. I'm hoping that by switching to Discord we'll have more interest and more people chatting.

So, if you'd like to talk to other people interested in OpenPnP, join the Discord!

Don't know about a RT chat but Discord's channels would be a great feature to expand on. I first thought you had done a https://discourse.julialang.org/ Discord site, discordapp.com is an interesting use of Discord and you don't have to host it. Can you create sub-channels?

You can't create sub-channels of channels, but you can create as many channels as you want. We currently have General and Builds channels and will add more as needed.

This is largely a replacement for the existing IRC channel that has been around for years, not a replacement for this mailing list.
