Welcome to the OP Weekly Newsletter
Hey folks,

This week Chris is on newsletter duty...it's actually quite exciting editing this. This week I wanted to highlight The College, where the Open Platform Space is and all the other things going go there and a Sustinability Toolkit taster session @OP Space next Tues.

1) The College where OP is based is an exciting project developed by Artspace Lifespace who manage empty buildings as places for the community, arts and culture to flourish. If anybody has been to the spectacular Carnival they put on at the Island in Broadmead you'll know what I mean.

So with the College they're trying the same thing. At the moment there are bike workshops, welders, bike design, permaculture garden, skate park, indoor sports hall, community music spaces, martial arts, artist studios, furniture renovation and of course OP Space. The College website is http://www.artspacecollege.com/ . You really must come down and have a look around...Pablo did and now he has a shared artist space!

2) The Schumacher Institute that Open Platform are affiliated with are doing a taster session on Tues @ OP Space for the Sustainbaility Toolkit programme. If you are looking to transition to a new career, learn about sustainability (theory or about yourself) then this course could well be for you. Further details below. Last year Open Platform helped design the course so it really is designed with Open Platformers in mind.

Cheers
OP Committee

Sustainability Toolkit Taster on Tues 20th Dec
@7pm, OP Space
(The College, Marksbury Rd, Bedminster)

20/12/11:  The Sustainability Toolkit, run by the Schumacher Institute, is for people ‘in transition’. People who have tried the world of work but are looking for something more ‘worthwhile’, something that feeds their spirit and their passion. It will introduce people to systems thinking and help them to make the transition to sustainable work.
The course is designed to provide useful knowledge for meaningful work – about different perspectives, about sustainability, about how you learn, about how groups work, about systems thinking and what this really means. By the end of this programme, participants will be confident, sought after, taken seriously, clear about where they are heading and how to get there, and supported by a network.
To fit round busy schedules, evening classes will take place every other Tuesday, from 6.15 to 8.45pm in St Nicholas House, central Bristol. The programme starts on 17th January 2012 and is accredited as a post-graduate certificate by a local University.
To book a place at a taster session, or to apply for the Toolkit, please email Martin Sandbrook – mar...@schumacherinstitute.org.uk

It's best if you book ahead but if you want to turn up on the evening and know where the College is give Chris a ring 07186457650 and he can let you in.
