Hi fellow Open Platformers
Since Open Platform was launched a few years ago we have been continually searching for opportunities to become more involved with other community and sustainability projects in Bristol. We now have some great links and there are OPers all over the city (and the world) doing exciting green, ethical and sustainable things.
We have now been given the opportunity to get involved in another project which we think could be key to building a more sustainable future for Bristol. We have been offered a space in the old City of Bristol College in BS3.
A group of us within Open Platform have seen the space and spoken to Art Space Life Space, who are currently managing the site, and we think Open Platform can play an important part in reaching their shared vision to create:
"Affordable Living space, Workspace, Open space, Growing space, Community space, Eating space, Recreation and Artspace, Performance space, Quiet space….. Our space."
We propose renting a large classroom for OP which will facilitate networking, projects, mentoring and educational workshops.
To get this project started we are looking for people who are interested in renting a low cost desk. The exact cost will depend on the number of people interested but is likely to be around £50 per month (including internet access). These desks would suit people who are just starting a project/business/social enterprise and are looking for somewhere more inspiring to work than their spare room!
Getting involved at this early stage allows us to access the space for an affordable rate and will also give us the opportunity to become an integral part of the development. Once we have the space up and running with desk tenants there will be space to explore networking, mentoring and workshop opportunities plus anything else that OPers feel inspired to do.
We are keen to get started on this as soon as possible so if you are interested (or know someone else who might be interested) in renting a desk or finding out more about the space and how you can get involved, please get in touch using this email (openplat...@gmail.com).
