Hi Tony,
I think if you build your test into an executable similarly to how riscv-tests does, then you should be able to use "-precompiled mytest.s" as additional arguments to sims and it should search under piton/verif/diag/assembly/riscv/rv64/ (assuming you're using the openpiton-dev branch) for the file. You can see sims,2.0 for the specifics around how -precompiled works.
Note that your test needs to have a "pass" label and a "fail" label with infinite loops at each in order for sims to be able to find the PCs and then the test harness to be able to declare pass or failure
When you run the tests, you'll want to set -finish_mask=11 to indicate that you want the end-of-test checker to look for the pass/fail PC on two cores instead of just one.
You can test the multicore aspect first using hello_world_many.c with -x_tiles=2 and -y_tiles=1 on build and run, plus -finish_mask=11 on run. If you see the test give "PASS (HIT GOOD TRAP)" as its final status then it worked as intended. You may need to increase -rtl_timeout=N and you should also be able to see the hello world prints in fake_uart.log
