Side channels

Hi,

I'm interested in investigating the availability of (cross-core) (covert) side channels and possible mitigations in the OpenPiton framework as part of my research. 

Do you know of any other work in this area?

If I find anything interesting and want to publish, is there anything you "require" me to do before publishing?

Hi Andreas,

I don't do much work in this area so I'm not so sure. I think I recall that Prof Torrellas from UIUC might have had a paper on cache coherence directory side channels? But I could entirely be misattributing there. Just a vague recollection.

Regarding reporting results etc, I think it would be better discussed directly if you want to send me an email about it. This is a research platform rather than an industrial product and most of the code was written by students. General expectation should not be that it's hardened against lots of vulnerabilities.
