Well, I got the email... When/how can we start?

I can do the Portuguese part.

Cheers,
Duarte

That's nice Duarte.
Is it pt or pt_BR?

We don't have an official date for the translations, but we will keep you informed about it.

Thanks a lot,
Patrick

Hi there,

I only posted here because I received the email about it... :-)

It's just pt.

Cheers,

Great!

I will do the pt_BR.
It will be nice to have pt and pt_BR in the platform.

Cheers,
Patrik

That was me who sent the email. The thing with translating is that no
one has stepped up to lead it, so I said heck with it, I know who has
volunteered, let's at least get everyone in the same place. Having all
the translators just in the hello@ inbox is doing no one any good when
we could be talking. :)

That said, I could help out with French but don't have the technical
vocabulary to lead it.

What we're missing is a translation "platform" so we can have strings translated and then tools for themes to embed them. I hoped to get that finished a few weeks ago but at this point I'm not sure when I'll get to it. If we want this in then someone will have to lead the effort...I can, of course, help :).

launchpad.net is doing a great job for translations:

I helped with the Ubuntu translation in pt_BR some years ago and it was very easy.

Basically you add all strings and people can translate. The application controls if a language is 100% translated or not. People can disagree with a specific translation and so one.

I also can help.

I can take pt_BR, spanish, dutch (belgium) and french.

Just created the project:

https://launchpad.net/openphoto

I think would be a good way to work with the translations.

What do you think guys (and girls :-) )?

That's fine by me.

Fine by me also, but I didn't find anything on the site: was I
supposed to search better?
I can do Italian translation, and I can also help with the French one.
I just need to be told precisely where is the text I have to
translate.

We really need a translation layer in place for both the mobile and web apps. Any takers for the web part?

Yes, me. I just need instructions.
