Hello everyone,

I have a question about sharing materials from a Canvas course. I am working with faculty who have created a question bank, and we would like to share it on our repository. We plan to share the answers in a hidden module.

What type of file do you think would be the most useful way to share this material with teachers? I don't know if Canvas files can be converted into an easier-to-read format, but an IT person just told me they are basically XML.

Smart OER people, tell me, are Canvas course files the way to go, or should we convert this into a more readable format?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Sincerely,

Jennifer

If it’s just a question repository, check and see if there is an export option for QTI.
Again, I’m not sure which repository you are trying to import into.
Else, export as a IMS common cartridge.
Its a zip archive with xml docs.

If you plan to export from a canvas course and import into a canvas repository, both formats will work.

Cheers

Hi Jennifer,

I wonder if this guide about making an ePub from a Canvas course might help you.  I could not get it to work for myself inside of our Canvas instance but maybe it will work for you.
