Open Oregon Educational Resources seeks an equity consultant to work on a contract basis to provide recommendations and feedback on a targeted pathway project that will develop openly licensed, Criminal Justice course materials with an equity lens. The contract will run through August 31, 2024 and will not exceed $15,000.

Open Oregon Educational Resources received one-time funding to develop openly licensed, subject-specific pathway materials with an equity lens. We will work with faculty in Criminology and Criminal Justice to identify and develop materials for 4 courses.

Our goal in hiring an Equity Consultant is to ensure that considerations of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are built into the development process from the very beginning of the project and remain a priority at every step of the way.
The Equity Consultant will work with the Statewide Open Education Program Director, the Statewide Open Education Instructional Designer and Project Manager, and Chemeketa Press personnel to assist with project design and provide recommendations and feedback on the materials developed. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the open education, EDI, and criminal justice landscapes.
Please submit your proposal by January 17, 2022 to hof...@linnbenton.edu. We will want to know your qualifications and interest in the contract, as well as the equity framework or orientation that you will bring to the project, and your perspective on how an equity consultant fits into the project as described. Your quote should include your hourly rate and total estimated cost to complete the project as described (up to $15,000), a completed W9 (attached), and evidence that you meet the requirements in the LBCC Personal Service Contract.

Equity Consultant Role
In this role, you will use your disciplinary expertise to connect the project work to the current context of Criminology and Criminal Justice fields in Oregon. As a requirement of the grant, all your materials for this project will be created with an open license.
Advise and/or Facilitate Leadership Team to
Ensure that considerations of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are built into the development process from the very beginning of the project and remain a priority at every step of the process.
Offer recommendations on project structure or design with an equity perspective based on your experience/observation
Review and provide feedback on materials created for professional development course
Meet weekly with leadership team
Attend and advise on agendas for the twice yearly workforce advisory board meetings
Consult on peer and workforce reviewer feedback
Instructors / Authors
Support instructors developing their online teaching presence in order to create a sense of inclusion and belonging for students
Meet with author teams (and/or author teams and instructional designer/instructional editor) to directly consult on projects
Facilitate discussions and learning around equity-based instructional materials in CJ author meetings
Review and make recommendations on materials created for CJ books/courses (e.g. peer review questions, outlines, manuscripts, assignments, assessments, rubrics, media)
Tentative Timeline
The bulk of the work will take place between Winter 2022-Summer 2023.
