Building Collective Power: Shared Learning, Healing, and Accountability to Sustain Equitable Change
February 23-25, 2022
We are better as a collective body. Join us as we put our heads together to learn, heal, and hold each other accountable for equitable change!
This conference will be offered as a fully virtual experience for your health and wellbeing.
We invite you to present at the 2022 annual NW Regional Equity Conference!
We are committed to improving equitable, sustainable experiences and outcomes for historically underrepresented students and employees of the higher education system through effective instruction and anti-racist supports. While this conference centers higher education, we understand that COVID-19 has highlighted systemic inequities in nearly every sector. It is with this in mind that we have decided to broaden the scope of topics this year.
Please share your equity and anti-racist strategies with us.
The NW Regional Equity Conference will be accepting proposals from now until October 29, 2021. We are seeking professionals who work in or support education, private, government, and non-profit sectors and other individuals who would like to share their social justice knowledge to help remove institutional barriers for historically underrepresented populations.
Submit proposals that align with the following tracks:
Anti-racist practices for creating equitable systems pertaining to historically underrepresented populations (including but not limited to: people of color, people with disabilities, people who identify as LGBTQIA2S+, socioeconomic status, etc.):
• Academic and Instruction (Equity in K-12 and higher education)
Curricula, program offerings, grading/evaluation, assessment (entrance testing), equitable classroom environments (in-person and virtual), classroom management
• Student and Employee Support
Onboarding (enrollment, recruitment, student orientations), Title IX, conduct, bias-based incidents, programming, student life, counseling and health, disability support, veterans, immigrants and undocumented students, student clubs, student employment, student success, advising, financial supports, multicultural student support, employee resource or affinity groups, student or employee retention strategies
• Public/Private/Nonprofit Equity Organizational Development
Human Resources; equitable business practices; culturally-responsive management; outreach and marketing; community partnerships, collaboration, and organizing, grant writing and fundraising.
• Equitable Leadership
Equity-Centered Leadership practices; leadership theories/frameworks/models; building equity-minded teams, evaluating and assessing equity & performance evaluations, mentorship, innovation, equitable change management, partnerships, team development
• Professional Development and Growth
Historical overviews, conversations around systemic oppression, current events, educational/foundational knowledge and skills, trauma-informed care, equity frameworks, professional development training and education
To Submit a Proposal
Complete the online proposal submission form at www.clark.edu/forms/nw-equity-conference-proposal.php. Incomplete submissions will not be considered. The submission deadline is October 29, 2021. Notification emails will be sent to the primary presenter via email on November 19, 2021. Selected presenters will have one week to accept the invitation and must register for the conference. You will be required to send your presentation with notes before January 7, 2022. We will ask for a tech check the week of February 7th to ensure quality of technology and presentation.
Other information
All workshops are 90 minutes in length.

Please ensure your presentation is checked for accessibility/universal design (for PowerPoint use alt-text for images/graphics, captions are added to videos, color contract considerations.) Please consider mobility for activities to ensure equitable presentations. (Only fully accessible platforms such as PowerPoint or Google Slides should be used.)
Registration Information
NWREC will cover the cost of the presenters’ registration for the conference (maximum: two presenters).
