to Open Oregon
Hi all, this is a little bit sideways from the usual topic of our listserv, so bear with me!

Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon was one of our coalition partners when we tried to pass a student basic needs legislative package in 2025. They helped make the case that textbooks are directly connected with food insecurity and other basic needs because students often have to choose between paying for one or the other.

Applications for the Executive Director position are due April 2.

Dear Amy,

We are excited to announce that Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon is hiring an Executive Director!

For nearly 20 years, Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon has worked alongside advocates, social service providers, state agencies and elected officials to address the root causes of hunger. We’ve advocated with and for Oregonians experiencing food insecurity through policy change, innovative programs, research and critical investments – all to build a state where every person is free from hunger.

Our next Executive Director will help lead and grow our organizational strategy and impact, which has included expanding universal free school meals to more than 95% of K-12 schools across Oregon, protecting Summer EBT to ensure children don’t go hungry while school is out, and safeguarding college students’ access to food and basic needs. In the year ahead, we look forward to continuing to build long-term, systemic solutions that make food security a right – not a privilege.

If you are a leader committed to food justice, building power, and creating lasting change for social, racial, and economic justice, we hope to hear from you. Our next executive director will provide strategic direction as the organization grows, strengthen organizational policies, systems, and processes, and supervise a staff of food justice advocates.

The application deadline for priority review is Thursday, April 2, 2026
