Hi all, we're closing out Open Education Week today from 11:30-1 with a 90-minute Keynote Webinar: Copyright Confidence From Basics to AI, cohosted by Open Oregon Educational Resources and Copyright First Responders Pacific Northwest. We're also extending the deadline to propose a lightning talk for this year's OER Symposium. And this newsletter is taking a two-week break! Amy

Legislative Update on the Student Basic Needs and Workforce Stabilization Act

  • The Ways and Means Committee will release their budget framework and hold hearings around the state where the public can testify. RSVP to join the Student Basic Needs Coalition in advocating to the Ways and Means committee!

Calls for proposals in the open education field

  • The Journal of Open Initiatives in Academic Libraries seeks submissions by March 7.
  • DOERS is seeking case studies written by faculty, staff, and administrators detailing their experiences designing and implementing open education research projects. 250-word abstracts are due March 8.
  • The OpenCon Ohio call for proposals for prerecorded lightning talks is open. The conference takes place virtually May 19-22. Proposals are due March 18.
  • The Open Education Conference seeks Proposal Reviewers and Program Selection Committee Members. Volunteer by March 28.
  • The Indiana Affordable Learning Summit call for proposals is open. The summit takes place May 29 at the Prindle Institute of DePauw University and on Zoom. Proposals are due March 31.
  • The Open Education Conference call for proposals is open. Proposals are due April 4.
  • The Journal of Open Educational Resources in Higher Education seeks submissions for a Special Issue on Innovative Practices. Initial review begins March 31 and the submission portal closes April 30.
  • ACRL seeks chapter proposals from librarians who champion open pedagogy for the forthcoming book The Open Pedagogy Cookbook. Proposals are due May 2.
