OpenOlat 18.1 released

Dear OpenOlat community

Some weeks ago we released OpenOlat 18.1. The OpenOlat 18.1 release is an iterative evolution of the 18.x release series. You can download it from here: https://www.openolat.org/downloads.html

The most important highlights are: 

• Passkey support
  • Modern and secure "passwordless" authentication method 
  • Optional upgrade from password to passkey or 2FA or mandatory by configuration
  • Configuration per role, e.g. 2FA only for admins, passkey for other users
  • API Key support as alternative to login/password for REST users

  • Report generator with many configuration options
  • Whiteboard tool integration
  • Diagram editor integration
  • Bulk actions for downloading files, delete decisions etc. 
  • Improved linking across notes and documents

  • Can be used to create personal to-dos as well (configurable)
• Integrated audio recorder
  • In OpenOlat UI, no external software required
  • Integrated in task course element, media center, more to follow (e.g. podcast)

  • User quota, configurable per role and per individual user
  • Configuration of the sharing permissions
  • Media administration view
  • Support for draw.io diagram editor
• eAssessment
  • Partial score calculation with automatic bonus/malus for correct and wrong answers
  • Formatted exam log
  • Optimized display of correct/wrong answers
• UX and layout
  • Redesign and modernization of login screen
  • Upgrade FontAwesome icons from version 4 to version 6
  • Redesign message box layout to be more accessible and more modern
  • Display documents like PDF, images, videos etc. in-place in light-box overlay

  • Optional rubric descriptions
  • Multi-file upload support in task element  
  • Edubase e-book reader multi-PAK support
  • Support for LTI 1.3 "Deep-Link" extension 
  • Improved configuration for personal calendar RSS feed configuration
  • Integration of pdf.js as new PDF viewer

OpenOlat 18.1 is the best and most secure OpenOlat release yet and we recommend installing it as soon as possible for all OpenOlat users.

If you rather prefer cloning from the repository, make sure you clone from the 18.1 maintenance branch and not from master:
