Dear OpenOlat community

Some weeks ago we released OpenOlat 20.1. The OpenOlat 20.1 release is an iterative evolution of the 20.x release series. It includes also several important security improvements, thus we recommend updating to the newest 20.1.x release as soon as possible.

The most important highlights are: 
  • Course Planner
    • Many refinements in the Course Planner module which as been introduced with OpenOlat 20.0
    • Rebranding from "Curriculum" to "Course Planner"
    • Adding taxonomy chooser to event form
    • Marking of the standard element when working in  scenarios with heave modularization
  • Coaching Tool
    • Redesign across the board
    • New entry for coaches
    • Improved performance metrics view in tables
    • Optional card layout as known from the students entry portal
  • Topic broker course element
    • Tool for playing with the assignment algorithm
    • Choose from predefined optimization strategies or define your own
    • Support for export / import of topics including all the media files
    • Extension of periods and resetting of assignments
    • Support for concurrent topic assignement prevention
  • Assignment scheduling
    • Optional comment when booking an appointment
    • Improved filter methods to also see the fully booked dates
    • Notifications for organizers
  • Course 
    • Refactoring and streamlining the calculation and display of course gradebooks and assessment
    • Improved reset workflow
    • Prevent co-owners without authoring rights from using course life-cycle and copy actions
    • Improved logging when using examination mode or assessment inspection
  • Catalog
    • Delegation of catalog taxonomy management to specific admins, per catalog section
    • Moved catalog from the courses site to its own site 
  • Blog and podcast
    • New comment subscription module
    • Automatic subscription management, configurable per resource
  • New module "Credit points"
    • Support for various credit systems such as ECTS, accreditation programs or even e-learning currencies
    • Advertise credits in Course Planner when publishing modules in the catalog 
  • QM module
    • Support for anonymous survey invitation via QR-Code
    • Support for survey invitation via email list
  • Open Badges
    • Support for digital signed badges as alternative to tje host based verification method using the OpenBadges standard
    • Support for editing of badge classes that are already in use by implementing automatic versioning and version managment
    • Improved support for global badge assignments
  • Various
    • Improved usability, many tweaked details
    • Improved accessibility, contrast and keyboard support
  • ...

OpenOlat 20.1 is the best and most secure OpenOlat release yet and we recommend installing it as soon as possible for all OpenOlat users.
