OpenOlat 18.2 released

Dear OpenOlat community

Some weeks ago we released OpenOlat 18.2. The OpenOlat 18.2 release is an iterative evolution of the 18.x release series. It includes also several important security improvements, thus we recommend updating to the newest 18.2.x release as soon as possible.

The most important highlights are: 
  • To-do in courses
    • Task course element can not automatically generate to-dos to not miss important workflow steps
    • Course authors and coaches can now create personal or class-wide to-dos, e.g. for homework assignments
  • Content editor
    • New content block "source code" to support technical teaching content, e.g. programming lessons
    • Improved video content block to support external video feeds such as YouTube, Vimeo, nanoo, Panopto etc. also in the content editor. Those videos are fully integrated into the new media center
    • The layout inspector with automatic alignment of content blocks and option for manual tweaking
  • Quality management
    • New rating method "star rating" in rubric forms
    • New comment option in rubric forms
    • Improved layouting of form, specially on mobile devices
    • New data collection preview of upcoming quality surveys
    • New feature to reschedule  upcoming quality surveys if the automatically selected date collides with holidays or class activities such as an important test or excursion
  • Scoring
    • New feature to apply weighted scoring to course activities in learning path courses
    • New configuration overview page in the course editor with direct manipulation and bulk actions
    • Visually improved performance summary page
    • Option to add grading information to generated PDF certificates
  • Assessment
    • All new assessment inspection tool
    • Define assessment inspection after a test individually or in bulk
    • Limit assessment inspection to IP addresses or use SafeExamBrowser 
  • Authoring
    • New usage type for learning resources to separate embedded from standalone resources
    • New admin panel to set the general default values for course elements
  • Other
    • New option to add external links to the top navigation
    • Greatly improved security by preventing XSS and other attacks
  • ...

OpenOlat 18.2 is the best and most secure OpenOlat release yet and we recommend installing it as soon as possible for all OpenOlat users.

If you rather prefer cloning from the repository, make sure you clone from the 18.2 maintenance branch and not from master:
