Hi,

I installed the following packages (all from the unstable branch):

1. OpenNI-Bin-Win32-v1.0.0.25.exe
2. NITE-Bin-Win32-v1.3.0.18.exe
3. Sensor-Bin-Win32-v5.0.0.25.exe

When I run UserTracker.net sample, the code "this.context = new
Context(SAMPLE_XML_FILE);" throws an exception:

Error: One or more of the following nodes could not be enumerated:
Device: PrimeSense/SensorV2/5.0.0.25: The device is not connected!

What am I missing? It worked just fine before I upgraded. The
install went just fine, and in the device driver I see all three
devices under "CL Devices":
NUI Audio
NUI Camera
NUI Motor

Thanks,
Asaf.

Uninstall the Sensor and use this one instead:

I tried it just now... No go! I still get the exact same error...

For the record, I uninstalled everything, and then installed:
1. OpenNI-Bin-Win32-v1.0.0.25.exe
2. NITE-Bin-Win32-v1.3.0.18.exe
3. The installer in the bin folder from the project in the link.

Did you change the XML files in Program Files\OpenNI\Data
\SamplesConfig.xml and Program Files\Prime Sense\NITE\Data?

Also make sure it is completely plugged in all the way.

I had an outlet where the Kinect plug was not flush with the outlet and that was causing a problem with detecting it.

When you say you uninstalled everything, does that include hooking up
the Kinect to USB port, opening Device Manager and looking to see what
drivers show up and then doing the following for each?

right-click > properties > Driver > Uninstall > "Delete the driver
software for this device"

(if you just choose "uninstall" before going that route and seeing
that option, you probably won't actually clear the non-working drivers
out of the way).

When you hook up You want the Kinect motor and camera to show up in
Device Manager under "Prime Sensor". You __don't__ want them showing
up in Device Manager as "CL" or "Human Interface" Devices.

This is the set of instructions I used to get it working on Windows 7 and they work.

However, the first time I tried to follow them I messed up an installed the Sensor driver from the Prime Sense site rather than the avin2 driver.

I think I uninstalled the Prime Sense driver using Add/Remove programs but it may also have been an uninstall program that lived inside the folder. I can't remember exactly.

Once I actually followed the instructions exactly it worked.

Hello all,

Got the problem solved. I can't find the message that lead me into
this problem. However, when I looked up how to use the motor, some
thread here had a link to CL NUI Platform stating that it is
compatible with OpenNI. So I installed the platform and then my
problems started.

Since I didn't bother to uninstall it, since I didn't suspect it
installed other drivers, every time I reinstalled OpenNI, I still got
the old drivers (probably following the problem stated in Tom's
reply). Eventually, it hit me, and after uninstalling the CL NUI
platform, and then reinstalling the drivers (with avin's Kinect port)
it worked again.

If you're thinking about CL NUI, it is NOT COMPATIBLE.

Thanks to all here that helped.

Asaf.
