Using Kinect in character animation like MikumikuDance

Hi, everyone.
    These days, I am using kinect to capture human motion and try to using this data to drive a character mesh in real time. The skeleton I get is using the method by Ilya Baran & Jovan Popović. But the character animation result seems not good. I found MikuMikuDance and New MoCap System in YouTube works quite well, and I am wondering how they could works so smoothly and naturally? Hope anyone could joint this discussion.
