Hi experts:
I'm trying to run linux kernel 2.6 on ONL swi(just for try something).
But I found the kernel do not have intel i210(Gigabit ethernet) driver codes, so that I can't get I210 interface.
Althought ONL had that, but it is hard to merge igb, e1000, and e1000e codes to kernel 2.6.
So, my question is:
1.
does someone know where to get i210 patches for linux kernel 2.6.3x?
2.
Or maybe there are no i210 patches, it is personal work?
3.
ONL patch files in submodules/linux/3.2.65-1+deb7u2/patches/ is made by ONL groups? or it can be get at somewhere?

Hi Vic,

A lot of the work that goes into ONL is in making kernels work and have all of the patches.  I'm not entirely sure why you would want to throw all of that work away to work on a much older kernel.  My guess is there's an easier way to do what you want to do, but without knowing more about what that is... I can't help you.

To answer your question, the patches in submodules/linux/3.2.65-1+deb7u2/patches have been made by many people: some for the ONL project, some for other projects, and some are back ports from future kernels.

What's the switch you're trying to work on?

Hi Rob:
I want to build the switch SDK, and the sdk configs is for kernel 2.6.
I thought it just can be built with 2.6 kernel.
But now I found the kernel 3.2 can build that SDK, too.
So it is not a issue for temporarily.

Thanks for your information.
