The Sustainable Energy Transitions (SET) Group at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for a post-doctoral position for a project focused on developing high fidelity energy system models to study industrial decarbonization pathways. The target start date for the project is September 1, 2026.
The project focuses on advancing the spatial, temporal, and technological resolution of energy system models, with particular emphasis on petrochemical and refining sector representation for decarbonization analysis.
Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant field with a focus on systems modeling and optimization (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines). A demonstrated background in energy systems or process systems engineering, as exemplified by a strong publication record, is required. Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative research approach with excellent written and oral communication abilities are expected. One-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal for a second and third year based on performance and funding availability.
