Industry co-financed Ph.D. position on the modelling of off-grid microgrids and energy community, in the Power System department at the University of Pisa.

The institution and group: the host institution is the DESTEC department in the University of Pisa (
https://www.unipi.it/), among the oldest universities established in 1343, with large experience in power and energy systems and involved in several European and National projects in such topics.
Description: The activity will focus on the modelling, sizing and management of energy power systems for off-grid systems and energy communities for developing and developed countries, in collaboration with an industry (33% co-financing by UBQ.Energy, Italian company in the microgrid sector with a large pipeline of projects).
The modelling shall account for modular and decentralized solutions solved by mathematical programming techniques and/or artificial intelligence.
The candidate can build on previous models and experiences by the research group, headed by Prof. Davide Poli.
Requirements: almost any STEM Master degree (Engineering, Computer Science, ...) with good communication and writing skills. Software and programming skills are well appreciated.
