Hello all

This short report on making energy system modeling more accessible in
the United Kingdom might be of wider interest:

• Liu, Lirong, Nayanee Silva, and Xinyao Liu (7 December 2023).
Empowering the future: energy modelling for all workshops – 27 June and
19 October 2023.

Based on earlier material too, I think the focus here is on outreach and
engagement and not open per se.

From a distance, the United Kingdom does better on open data that open
modeling in the energy domain. ES (Energy Systems) Catapult pushes for
open development these days though. Relatively few modeling projects
are housed in the UK — with the clear exception being OSeMOSYS, having
migrated, in part, from Stockholm to London. Regarding open source
uptake more generally, definitive international data is rare and most
cross‑nation comparisons are inspired at best.

with best wishes, Robbie
