PyPSA Labs launches

Dear openmodders,

Today we're launching PyPSA Labs, a new non-profit that offers
development, maintenance, support and training for our open software
Python for Power System Analysis (PyPSA).

Since we launched PyPSA here on this list over 10 years ago, it's been
inspiring to see the number of tools, companies and research groups
building on it for open energy modelling.

We've been funding the development from ad-hoc research projects, but
it’s about time to bring the core development into a structure with a
long-term sustainable foundation.

Other energy models are going down similar paths, and it's a path well
trodden by tools like Nextcloud, GitLab, Mattermost, etc.

The PyPSA ecosystem will remain open-source and co-maintained by
multiple institutions, providing strength in diversity. PyPSA Labs will
take over the lead on core maintenance tasks for PyPSA and PyPSA-Eur
from TU Berlin over the next year.

Our co-founders are the core development team from TU Berlin: Tom Brown,
Fabian Neumann, Iegor Riepin and Lukas Trippe.
