Dear openmoders,

We are hiring again. 😊

🔬 HITEC PhD Opportunity: System Modeling meets Next-Gen Solar Tech! ☀️

The Jülich Systems Analysis institute (ICE-2) and Photovoltaics institute (IMD-3) at Forschungszentrum Jülich are jointly recruiting a highly motivated PhD Candidate for a unique, high-impact project: Performance & Systems Impact of Emerging Photovoltaic Technologies (ICE-2 & IMD-3).

This is a unique chance to be the link between cutting-edge systems modeling and novel PV materials science.

The Mission:

  • Utilize the ETHOS model suite to secure and optimize the German/European energy system, directly contributing to the Energiewende.
  • Analyze the long-term outdoor performance of novel solar cells (Perovskite, Organic PV) and assess their supply chain security.
  • Bridge detailed module data with macro-level energy systems analysis.

Why this Project is Unique:

  • Dual-Institute Experience: Joint supervision and time spent at both world-class institutes: ICE-2 (Jülich Systems Analysis) and IMD-3 (PV) at Forschungszentrum Jülich.
  • Real-World Impact: Your research directly supports national policy and contributes to a resilient energy future.
  • The Ideal Candidate: Enthusiastic, cooperative, great at modeling, and proficient in Python. Master's in Engineering or Science required.

Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity!
