Dear all

Max Parzen and I have drafted an open letter calling for CC‑BY‑4.0 on raw data and CC0‑1.0 on metadata and something open on any informing data standards:

There is an associated PDF (currently at release 05):

If you agree, then you can sign on in support using the second posting:

For some related information, this set of low‑voltage load forecasting datasets offers some background:

You can click on 100 entries, then on the Location column and eyeball license type country. The CC‑BY‑4.0 license is quite common.  The underlying paper is:

  • Haben, Stephen, Siddharth Arora, Georgios Giasemidis, Marcus Voss, and Danica Vukadinović Greetham (15 December 2021). "Review of low voltage load forecasting: methods, applications, and recommendations". Applied Energy. 304: 117798. ISSN 0306-2619. doi:10.1016/j.apenergy.2021.117798. arXiv:2106.00006.

with best wishes, Robbie

Hi Robbie, Hi everyone,

A big data provider moved from CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 (not qualified as open data) to CC BY 4.0 (open data) -- they will announce it once they feel ready to communicate this. Thanks to all supporters who made this possible, and especially to the 64 individuals around the world that signed the open letter. Always great to see that things can get better.

Best wishes,
