Dear Amazing Open Modders:
Please feel free to join (or pass this onto interested colleagues to join) a group of us on an open TEAMS webinar that discusses:
Open Source Energy Modelling and Robust Decision Making (RDM).
We're keen on discussing RDM to tackle: Divergent energy plans; Data input variations; Model structure uncertainty; Assumption inconsistency ... and more. The panel includes:
1️⃣ Prof. Jairo Quiros-Tortos from Loughborough University will share game-changing insights on how RDM helped LAC countries unlock more than $10Bn in concessionary finance. As part of the Data-to-Deal (D2D) framework
2️⃣ Prof. Steve Pye from UCL highlights needs and challenges to blend classical energy systems analysis with RDM to uncover how uncertainty can be accommodated
3️⃣ Dr. Andrew Marquard from Energy Systems Research Group at the University of Cape Town explores how RDM might be helpful to de-pressurize tensions between competing models and build consensus into energy decisions.
4️⃣ Assoc. Prof. Will Usher from KTH Royal Institute of Technology unravels the complexity of Scenario Analysis (SA) and how it helps us see why certain options thrive—under identified conditions.
Followed by a panel discussion chaired by Prof Mark Howells of Loughborough University and Imperial College London.
With multiple ministerial and stakeholder energy plans needing reconciling, RDM and SA offer a way to compare, discuss, and ultimately help decide: can we meet the conditions that make solutions viable?
🕛 When? Friday Lunch time - Noon (London), 13:00 GMT/Cape Town 27th September
