we have an open position at the Joint Research Centre, the science and knowledge service of the European Commission for an Analyst in energy transition and industrial decarbonisation. The candidate will work with us on the Energy & Industry Geography Lab which is a specialised GIS hub for the mapping of energy and non-energy infrastructure in Europe. EIGL will supports the clean energy transition of EU’s industry and the policy making in the field.
Main tasks and research questions include:
· Perform regional analyses of future infrastructure needs and bottlenecks with a focus on energy-intensive industry
· Assess the spatial relationship between energy demand and supply and the market for clean energy sources (such as renewable power and hydrogen)
· Research to support clean energy research and innovation, industrial policies, and the social impacts of the energy transition.
We look for a candidate with a very good scientific background in the energy system and the energy transition, knowledge about clean energy and industrial technologies and a strong interest in the transition to climate neutrality. Experience with GIS and/or spatial assessments is an advantage.
