Dear all,
this lecture, which will take place tomorrow, Feb. 11th, 4-5 p.m. UTC+1, may be of interest to people who are caught between sociological expertise and modeling technique.
Quantifying lifestyle change in greenhouse gas emissions modeling - an integrated approach at the neighborhood level
(in German)
Dr. SYBILLE BRAUNGARDT from Öko-Institut e. V.
Energy modeling typically focuses on technological options, while the impacts of behavioral change and sufficiency as drivers of a low-carbon society are largely unexplored. Because of the interaction between behavioral and technological measures, an integrated approach to modeling the impacts of such changes is needed. Our model covers the neighborhood level and incorporates the following sufficiency aspects in addition to technological decarbonization options: per capita living space, individual mobility behavior, and electricity savings. The results show that the lifestyle changes considered offer savings opportunities of the same magnitude as the technological options.
