Hello all

Cross‑posting.  CREDS is Centre for Research into Energy Demand Solutions.

Some interesting demand-side measures being explored in the United Kingdom.  Click on the "virtual event page" link provided below to view the detailed agenda.  Fits quite well with some of the work on sufficiency within this community.

with best wishes, Robbie

Dear colleagues,

We are delighted to invite you to our CREDS in celebration event (hybrid) on Tuesday 23 May, 14:00-18:00 at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms, London, WC2B 5DA.

Join us to find out how CREDS has changed the conversation about energy use by working with policymakers, businesses and researchers. Over the past five years, our research has demonstrated that flexible energy demand, decarbonised energy sources and reductions in energy use are all essential for the transition to a zero-carbon society.

The event will kick off with an overview of our research findings from Nick Eyre, Director of CREDS. Following which, we will hear about four impact case studies from our researchers and stakeholders. The event will close following an opportunity for networking over drinks and nibbles.

  • Place Based Carbon Calculator: Hear about how this innovative free online tool, which estimates the per-person carbon footprint at neighbourhood level, has been used in local policy-making.

  • Shifting the dial on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in CREDS: Hear about how we have created a more positive EDI culture within our internal community over the past five years, including supporting junior researchers with career progression.

  • Building on our strengths – working with the construction sector: Hear about how our links with industry helped to inform retrofit policy discussions in the construction sector – and between industry and government.

  • Positive low energy futures (PLEF): Hear about how our ground-breaking scenario based initiative, which provides extensive detail on the possibilities to reduce energy demand in every sector, has been used in national policy-making.

This event will be hybrid.
