Dear All,

The African Energy Modelling platform with over 100 analysts just started to wrap up! Very cool was the fact that many of the trainers were themselves African's and alum from previous schools. We are now in the 5th edition!

Open-source goodness. The event description is here:
Check out a couple of awesome testimonials from our African champions here:

Please also check out this amazing official national effort in Ecuador where open modelling is being taken up by its key planning institutions - again a massive training event this time across several government institutions (https://fias.org.ec/el-ministerio-del-ambiente-agua-y-transicion-ecologica-capacita-a-sectores-estrategicos-sobre-modelos-matematicos-para-la-mitigacion-del-cambio-climatico/)

Also, on Africa some new papers using open-source models. Those on Research Square are useful for developing deeper models, all data and instructions for new-commers are included:
Hydro modelling:
Democratic Republic of Congo:
Egypt:
Morocco:
Nigeria:

And, for peeps in developing countries please do consider attending the SDSummerSchool in Italy - Applications are here. Entrance requirements are steep, but the courses are free. Please do pass those on to anyone you think would benefit from a deep dive into open-source energy modelling. With tools that cover: Data collection; Demand Projections; Energy modelling and power flexibility; Agent-based modelling; National Integrated Assessment Modelling; And Infrastructure financing.

Best, Mark (on behalf of a little bit of an amazing community, which is a little part of this amazing community!)
