Dear all,

an amendment of the “DWD bill”, the law governing Germany’s meteorological service, went into force in late July. As a consequence, most of DWD’s outputs seems now to be Open Data. See DWD statement, data portal, license, which reads:

“Services that are provided as part of the mandate for basic supply of information (flagged 'Grundversorgung') may be re-used without any restrictions provided that the source reference is indicated”

Dear all,

great news. Is anyone working on a simple (web based) interface to the provided data? Something like an application that provide a simple RESTful Api to extract forecasts and historic data for a given place.

It seems, that we need such a tool for our research project and I think it is a good topic for a small community based project.

Best,

Lukas
