Hi everyone,

The question of whether it's legal to build or use a PLEXOS-to-PyPSA data converter has sparked real discussions. We believe the answer is yes — and we’ve outlined the legal reasoning and ongoing work in this openmod forum post: https://forum.openmod.org/t/is-it-legal-to-use-or-contribute-to-a-plexos-to-pypsa-data-converter/5312

Beyond the legal debate, we’re actively developing a prototype tool based on #NREL open-source components — and plan to share early results at the next PyPSA user meeting (2 July, registration link is shared on the LinkedIn post). I am sure these developments and experiences could also be easily reused for other open-source models!

Curious, concerned, or ready to contribute? Have a look!

Best wishes,

Max
