Are you a scientist using machine learning in your research? Are you sometimes frustrated by irreproducible results? Do you like to collaborate with other scientists online? Do you love to create tools that make it easier to analyse scientific data? If so, then you may want to apply for the 2016 Open Machine Learning Workshop, 14-18 March 2016, at the Lorentz Center in Leiden, The Netherlands.
OpenML.org is a platform dedicated to creating an open, online ecosystem for machine learning. It automatically organizes data sets, algorithms, and experiments into a coherent whole, connected to the people who created them, so that scientists can easily build on prior work and collaborate in real time online.
In a week-long hackathon-style event, open to machine learning researchers and data-driven scientists alike, you learn more about OpenML, and work in small teams for many hours and days at a time to create something great that pushes the scientific community (and your own research) forward. Just bring your own laptop, and possibly your own data and/or machine learning software.
In the spirit of openness, we welcome new participants from any scientific community. However, because the number of participants is limited, we kindly ask you to apply by telling us more about yourself, and which contributions you would like to work on during the workshop. We will select participants based on the scientific and societal impact of their proposals, and on how well their goals match with those of other participants.
Hosted by the Lorentz Center, the workshop is free to attend, and includes a welcome reception and workshop dinner free of charge. Moreover, participants are provided with office space, special rates at a nearby hotel, visa assistance and bike rental.
We are still in the process of acquiring additional funding. If you need a contribution to your expenses, please indicate this in the registration form. We hope to offer limited support for select participants.
