I wrapped openmeta with python, as part of one of my projects. code is
here:

may it save someone some precious minutes.

NB, this only calls the CLI binary, and does not, e.g. use pyObjC
calls to make it go. Nor does it re-implement anything using Bob
Ippolito's xattr - http://undefined.org/python/#xattr - or whatever
else.
